A passphrase only you know
Your archive is encrypted with a key protected by a passphrase you set. We never store it, and there’s no “forgot password” reset for it, on purpose: if we could recover it for you, that would mean we could read your texts too.
Encrypted at rest, not just in transit
Your messages, contact names, phone numbers, and files are encrypted in our database itself, not just while traveling over the internet. Direct database access shows scrambled data, not your texts.
Your account can’t see anyone else’s
Every account’s data is isolated at the database level, enforced by the database itself rather than only by application code that could have a bug in it.
Your original file gets deleted
Once your SMS Backup & Restore export is turned into your archive, the raw file itself is deleted from our servers. There’s less of it left to ever be exposed.
